We're proud to share that TopResume's career expert, Amanda Augustine, took part in Amazon Career Day 2020!
Each year, Amazon hosts a career day focused on helping prospective employees understand what it's like and what it takes to work at Amazon.
Normally, Career Day is held in person and is focused primarily on only Amazon.
But this year, like so many other things in our lives, things were different.
A challenging job market changed Career Day
The job market changed overnight because of COVID-19. Amazon surveyed workers across the country and found people coast-to-coast are looking for new opportunities and looking to improve their skills.
Due to this incredible amount of change, Amazon's Career Day went virtual — and the company broadened the focus of the event so that the day's content and activities could be beneficial to all job seekers, not just those looking for a role at Amazon. (However, it should be noted, Amazon is working on filling thousands of roles nationwide across all departments — they are hiring for 30,000 roles in corporate positions and have 100,000 open jobs in operations)
The virtual event featured an all-star lineup of speakers, including television host Karamo Brown and NASA astronaut Leland Brown. Our own Amanda Augustine spoke on how to stand out in the hiring process and building your personal brand online.
Events like this are incredibly important in helping job seekers develop a game plan and feel confident about their path. A lot of people are claiming unemployment for the first time ever and, therefore, may not know where to start.
