Millennial burnout is real — and these are the leading factors causing it.
With all the troubles within our daily lives, there are a lot of factors that can lead to individuals feeling extremely stressed — and millennials have a pretty good idea about what exactly is stressing them out. According to a recent survey of 2,000 people conducted by Lhasa OMS, the top three factors that millennials believe lead to burnout are all career-related. This comes as no surprise, especially now that burnout is an officially recognized work-related syndrome according to the World Health Organization.
Why are millennials so stressed?
So, what are the top three factors causing millennials this much stress? Of those surveyed, 74 percent of millennials report that their finances and debt are causing them to burn out, while 65 percent said work tension is the cause and 56 percent blame trying to find the right work-life balance. On top of this, 91 percent reported that they would feel less stressed if they had a higher income.
Now, you might be thinking: “So what? Everyone experiences stress at some point in their lives.” While you are correct, 78 percent of those surveyed stated that they think they are more stressed than previous generations, with more debt, a more competitive job market, and more expensive healthcare being the leading reasons why.
